What they say: “We wanted tough shoes we could wear every day – not just on our bikes. Here they are. Like our bags, we make them with the toughest and most industrial materials we could find and build them to last”. This is what the Chrome site says and they aren’t lying.
From the second you open the box you know you’re dealing with a shoe that may look like a Chuck Taylor low top, that really is where the similarity ends. The sole is stiffened and feels pretty much like an SPD sole, stiff but enough flex to wear on and off the bike and be comfy. The 1000 denier cordura material is lined with what feels like memory foam, comfy.
The build quality is immaculate, and the design features, such as the elastic lace trap, reflective dot on the heel and stitched in tongue, reminiscent of a walking boot, the stickers and even the box all ooze quality.
I’ve wrecked Vans, Cons, Nike, Specialized, Merrel, addidas etc etc; and will honestly say that these, although they did seem a little expensive, are gonna take some beating. They feel like they’ll take some breaking in. But once there will serve me well and look well cool for a long time to come, only time will tell.
Score out of 5. I think it can only be a “FIVE!”
